Canarian Coalition pleads for a change to give back to Tenerife a model of the Island, his for decades, lost in the three and a half years of his mandate in the Cabildo of the PSOE and citizens. Rosa Dávila, candidate for president, and Carlos Alonso, spokesperson for the group in the island corporation, took stock before the media of the “desert” that the institution has become with Pedro Martín as president. They announce that their project emphasizes the social sphere, mobility and balance between municipalities in the face of a system that considers that “it is only about distributing money.”
Desert, wasteland, a failing note “for not putting a zero on it”, the message of loss of institutional and economic weight of the Island… It is the balance of a candidate who was very harsh with the current government and with its visible head , Pedro Martin. So much so that she went so far as to say that she was doing it badly “on purpose” for not making decisions.
Carlos Alonso, for his part, referred to “the eternal guilt” because “what happens is never his responsibility.” He stressed: “When everything is not attributed to the inheritance of the Canary Coalition, the fault lies with the pandemic.”
Dávila prioritizes social attention before the “absolute zero” of the PSOE. The candidate herself claims to have already toured the Island several times and promises more in these months prior to the May 28 elections. He anticipates that he will recover the Ansina program for the elderly and will promote the Socio-Health Infrastructure Plan “paralyzed since they arrived.” The improvement of mobility, the job and the territorial balance are other lines of action “for the Island to recover the leadership lost in the Canary Islands.”
The balance of these years in the opposition “that have hardened us and from which we have learned” and the main lines of action go hand in hand in the meeting with leadership for leaders who represent the past (Alonso) and the future (Dávila ). The first recalled the 500 initiatives presented and the second announced a practically finished program with more than 100 proposals.
Rosa Dávila criticized “the paralysis suffered by Tenerife”, with numerous investment losses “and a carelessness that has made us fall behind”. A message: “We want to recover the leadership that corresponds to Tenerife and for that it is necessary to have a strong party and once again be the force with the most votes.” They recalled those 120,000 votes in 2019 and gave a figure: the 600 more affiliates until reaching the current 13,000.
Another fundamental area is mobility with a firm commitment to the construction of the Bus-HOV lane on the TF-5 to La Orotava “whose wording was put out to tender in February 2019 and it took more than two and a half years to award,” they point out. . Alonso emphasizes that all the works that are currently being carried out, such as the burying of the TF-24, the Padre Anchieta roundabout, the closure of the insular ring and the Las Chafiras-Oroteanda highway “are from the past mandate, when the Canary Islands Coalition governed ».
They agree that improving mobility also involves having powerful public transport, since “since we achieve free for Canary Islands and Tenerife, the PSOE has only put sticks and sticks in the wheels to carry out the measure ». They value that “Titsa is a great company and Pedro Martín and the PSOE cannot make their lack of management and foresight fall on the drivers.” Regarding trains and guided transport, they point out that “what was agreed with the PP to guarantee their support for the accounts is only to commission feasibility studies.”
Alonso underlines “the low budget execution in recent years with more than 340 million euros not executed in 2020 and 2021. The figures for 2022 follow similar paths.”
Dávila and Alonso criticize the “sectarianism” of the PSOE, since “they have stopped 36 projects of the Strategic Framework, the MEDI” or the distribution “by hand” of PSOE subsidies to their municipalities in 2022; and this year “they repeat it”.
Alonso does not end without praising “the enthusiasm and work capacity” of his partner, as well as the factor that she can be the first woman president of the Cabildo.
