SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Asier Antona has been presented this Tuesday as a candidate of the Popular Party for the Mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma for the next municipal elections in May 2023. In the act of presentation he was accompanied by the president of the PP of La Palma, Mariano Zapata , and the general secretary of the PP of the Canary Islands, Poli Suárez.

Antona has stated that she is happy with this decision that her party has made and has indicated that she assumes this “enormous responsibility” knowing very well what she is committing to: “With humility and being very aware that it is a task that requires a sincere commitment and a work without truce”.

The candidate affirmed that Santa Cruz de La Palma has always been his “great passion” and added that his objective for the next four years is to “transform this great city into the municipality that leads the great projects of La Palma, demonstrating that it is the cultural capital , economic, leisure”.

“We have a past like few other places in Spain and now we have the opportunity to work together for the present and future that our city deserves,” he added.

In addition, Asier Antona defended that they are at a key moment in which they must “look forward to the future together with enthusiasm to once again make Santa Cruz de La Palma a reference capital and place it in the place it deserves, betting on wealth and diversity of its neighborhoods, its extensive heritage value, open to the Atlantic, with its port, and with a history that we should be proud of. A unique city for everyone,” he added.

For his part, Mariano Zapata has valued Antona’s extensive experience, beginning as a councilor in the Santa Cruz de La Palma City Council, going through the Presidency of the Popular Party of the Canary Islands and recently as a regional senator, “being an active voice in the upper house,” he said. In addition, he stressed that Asier “is the mayor that the island’s capital needs, a good politician, committed, with clear ideas and that wherever he goes he always has his city in mind.”

Meanwhile, the secretary of the PP of the Canary Islands, Poli Suárez, has highlighted the dedication that Asier Antona has had throughout his political career, “both to the Popular Party and to his city, being a true ambassador of Santa Cruz de La Palma and showing great pride in her.” “The good work that Asier has done in the different positions that he has held over the years is the best endorsement he has to face this challenge, and we are sure that he will be the next mayor, and without a doubt he is the mayor that Santa deserves. Cruz de La Palma”, affirmed the popular leader.
