Costa Adeje has improved its pre-pandemic tourist data, in addition to recovering quickly, it has experienced an increase in destination spending with fewer visitors. These data, offered by the Canary Islands Statistics Institute, have been endorsed by the 2022 Exceltur Report, which concludes that during the summer months “holiday destinations on the Mediterranean coast and the archipelagos register the best results in income levels and increases compared to to 2019 with an increase in RevPAR +18.2%, ADR: +16.3%, occupancy: +1.5%. In other words, the average cost per tourist went from 1,234.16 euros in 2019 to 1,530.81 euros in 2022. With these figures, Costa Adeje is at the forefront in Tenerife.

Regarding the number of tourists received and pending the data for December, Costa Adeje received between January and November 2022 1,685,398 tourists with an average stay of 7.1 days (in 2019 it was 7.44 days) and a total of 12,151,719 overnight stays. The pandemic period was a moment of resilience for the business community that saw Costa Adeje as a sure value, betting on the construction and opening of new hotel establishments as well as the remodeling of many others. That is why the number of hotel beds has increased from 2019 to 2022, going from Adeje 44,080 to 46,648.

With these good figures, the technical-political team of the City Council is traveling to Madrid this week with the aim of continuing to consolidate the position of the destination. As in recent years, Costa Adeje arrives at Fitur under the umbrella of the Association of Municipalities and Provinces, sharing exhibition space and synergies with the other member municipalities.

The Costa Adeje agenda at Fitur began on Monday with the mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, attending various meetings. Today Tuesday the rest of the team has landed to equip the stand with the content of Costa Adeje in addition to attending the conference of the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, attending the board of directors of the Alliance of Tourist Municipalities, as well as the presentation of the Cabildo de Tenerife and attend various operational meetings.

On Wednesday the 18th it will be the turn of the official presentation of the Canary Islands pavilion, as well as the official opening of FITUR, the presentation of the Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands (AMTC) and various important work meetings within the strategic plan of Costa Adeje.

The presentation of Costa Adeje will be unique but we will have to wait to discover the surprise until Thursday 19 at 12:45 at the AMTC stand. That same day, the Adeje team will attend the round table of the Minister of Tourism, as well as the already traditional presentation of the Villa de Adeje Rally, attendance at the ITH awards ceremony and will end the day with a meeting of the minister in FITURTECH (AMT).

On Friday, part of the team will continue the work agenda by attending the Turespaña round table: “the challenges in promoting mature destinations”, and various work meetings to find out about possible projects to be developed in Costa Adeje, some of them linked to the tourist intelligence.
