The creation of companies in the Canary Islands rises 19.5% in November and the dissolutions shoot up 48.6%

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE/MADRID, Jan. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The number of new commercial companies in the Canary Islands rose by 19.5% last November compared to the same month in 2021, reaching a total of 337 companies, according to data released this Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

With the rebound in November, the creation of companies in the Canary Islands returns to positive rates after experiencing a year-on-year decrease of 7.1% in October.

For the constitution of the 337 companies created last November in the Canary Islands, just over 15 million euros were subscribed, which is 175.2% more than in the same month of 2021, while the average capital subscribed, which stood at 97,297 euros, increased by 26.4% year-on-year.

At the same time that the creation of companies increased, the dissolution of companies also grew in November in the Canary Islands, 48.6% compared to the same month in 2021, up to a total of 107, the highest figure since January and February 2022, when 160 and 108 companies closed, respectively.

NATIONAL DATA

At the national level, the number of new mercantile companies increased by 6.6% in November in relation to the same month of the previous year, to a total of 8,717 companies, and more than 848 million euros were subscribed, 34.7% more than in November 2021, while the average subscribed capital, which stood at 97,297 euros, increased by 26.4% year-on-year.

For its part, the dissolution of companies in November grew by 24.3% compared to the same month in 2021, to a total of 2,652, the highest figure since January 2022, when 3,715 companies closed. Likewise, between January and November 2022, 2.2% fewer companies were incorporated than the same period in 2021 and 10.7% more companies disappeared.

MADRID AND CATALONIA LEAD THE CREATION OF COMPANIES

The communities that created the greatest number of companies last November were Madrid (2,059 companies), Catalonia (1,620) and Andalusia, where 1,601 companies were created. The regions that incorporated the fewest companies in the penultimate month of last year were La Rioja (26), Cantabria (65) and Navarra (67).

Five regions created fewer companies in November 2022 than in the same month of 2021: La Rioja (-45.8%), Cantabria (-12.2%), Murcia (-2.5%), Aragón (-2.4 %) and the Balearic Islands (-1%). In contrast, the creation of companies increased in twelve communities, especially in the Canary Islands (+19.5%), Castilla y León (+19%), Galicia (+11.9%), the Valencian Community (+11.6%) and Madrid (+11.2%).

Considering the dissolved commercial companies, the communities with the highest number of dissolutions in November 2022 were Madrid (952), Andalucía (388) and the Valencian Community (223). On the contrary, the autonomous communities with the fewest dissolved mercantile companies were Navarra (4), La Rioja (15) and Cantabria (24).

Fourteen communities increased their number of business dissolutions last November in the interannual rate, mainly Asturias (+72.7%), Extremadura (+54.2%) and the Canary Islands (+48.6%), while Navarra and La Rioja did not experience variation and only decreased in Aragón (-13.5%).

THE CREATION OF BUSINESSES INCREASES 21.9% IN MONTHLY RATE

In monthly terms (November 2022 compared to October of the same year), the incorporation of new companies rose 21.9%, while business dissolutions shot up 38.2%.

In both cases, these are the highest increases in a month of November in the last five years.
