SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Governing Council of the University of La Laguna has approved today Monday the closing periods corresponding to 2023, with the idea that the Institution’s large service contracts adapt to them, as well as the institutional academic processes and the permits and vacations of its workers and workers.

The manager of the academic institution, Juan Manuel Plasencia, reported that since 2012 optimization measures have been carried out to reorganize the closing periods and contain current spending, which in turn has meant a cut in surveillance and cleaning contracts for the teaching center, adapting them to these closing periods, as well as a reduction in the current expenditure of the academic center on water and electricity supply.

In fact, Plasencia estimated that with these scheduled closures, savings of 12,500 euros in water consumption and 250,000 euros in electricity consumption are expected, in a particularly sensitive year given the increase in the cost of this last chapter.

Specifically, the proposal, approved by 28 votes in favor and 2 against, stipulates closures in three periods of the year, namely: Easter, from April 3 to 9, 2023, both included; in the month of August, from August 7 to 22, 2023, both included and, finally, in the Christmas period, from January 1 to 8, 2024, both included.

The manager explained that it is an agenda agreed upon with the union representatives of the university institution, with the exception of the company committee of the administration and labor services staff, which does not negotiate these closures.
