SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife promotes more than thirty business contacts between the Island and Africa to generate business opportunities between both territories.

The Councilor for External Action of the Cabildo, Liskel Álvarez, has indicated that the meetings have been carried out through the insular strategy to increase maritime connectivity of goods and passengers with West Africa, in which work is being done to promote internationalization of the business fabric of Tenerife with export potential interested in expanding their business in the African continent.

“The meetings have been held virtually, to facilitate the connection between the companies without them having to travel and have had the objective of generating synergies and establishing business cooperation networks between both territories”, indicated the CEO.

Tenerife companies interested in the African market are from different economic sectors, such as food, automotive, construction, ceramics, gardening, renewable energy, hospitality and tourism, among others. The African countries in which they have shown interest in expanding their businesses are Morocco, the Ivory Coast, Mauritania, Senegal and Cape Verde, which are the territories in which work has been carried out and contacts have been maintained with the companies that operate in them. .

For Liskel Álvarez, “increasing the volume of business and strengthening commercial relations with these territories will favor the improvement of connectivity both in the transport of goods and passengers, which is also one of the purposes pursued through this action “.

“The geographical situation of the Canary Islands is privileged, as a connection enclave between Europe, Africa and America, to attract investment and serve as a bridge for companies in their links to other markets. An advantage also for our business fabric, to take advantage of this territorial location strategy and proximity to Africa to expand its activity in the neighboring continent”, highlighted the CEO.

Liskel Álvarez highlighted that new meetings between companies will continue to be promoted this quarter to continue with this line of work to promote the internationalization of the business fabric.
