The Student Families Association (AFA) of the Granadilla de Abona CEIP has denounced the chaos and abandonment in which said school is located, a situation that they have been denouncing for eight years and with the passage of time has worsened, they point out, while sharing the complaint on networks, with photos and videos, of the damage to the center, where during The tour of the facilities can be seen at first glance the lack of maintenance accompanied by a great state of insecurity for children.

“From the AFA We want to inform the families of the current state of abandonment that our center is suffering, inform them that from this association we are fighting together with the management team of the center, for the resolution of said damages, which in some cases can cause a lack of security or cause injury.”

The association points out that wall falls, and rust in the area of sports facilities, is a common occurrence to which students are subjected, as well as a highly dangerous area where there is a well that is only protected by some wooden plates. about the same.

There are areas of removable and flimsy fencing that can be easily accessed, which has been in that precarious state for two years and without any signage of the danger that said place can mean for students. For educators it is being impossible to teach classes in such facilities since they must not only practice their profession as teachers but must be constantly alert to the care of students in a very dangerous environment.

In addition, the school has been seriously affected by the rains in recent weeks, with classrooms flooding due to leaks from the roof. They have reported loss and damage to materials including books, documents, among others, when they are subjected to the water that enters the school.

The last rains have flooded the classrooms of the center / DA

As a consequence, the CEIP Granadilla de Abona has areas where humidity has decomposed walls and ceilings, as well as several broken windows. AFA denounces that “now in winter these school conditions can cause illness in our children, without forgetting the risk posed by broken pieces of glass that can detach.”
