Candelaria has awarded the provision of the service of lines 1, 2 and 3 and the reinforcement line 1 and 2 of Urban Transport on Demand. With an amount of 194,506.73 euros, the company Transportes de guaguas La Esperanza SL will be in charge of offering this fundamental service, which connects the midlands of Igueste and Barranco Hondo with the center of the municipality.

The mayoress of Candelaria, Mari Brito, highlighted that the contract has been improved by incorporating one more trip in the reinforcement line during the academic year so as to favor the students of the IES Punta Larga residing in Igueste, who expressed difficulties regarding capacity transportation at a specified time.

In this way, the cost of the ticket will be 1.15 euros and the service will be active from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, except December 25. “We are very happy with the good reception that the reinforcement line is having and being able to provide close and personalized coverage to the public. From January to December 2022, the number of users has increased by 33%; that is, of 7,949 people in January, 2022 closed with a total of 10,583 on these three lines”, explained the mayoress.

“As always, we invite neighbors to contribute ideas on how we can continue to improve and modernize the service; For this reason, the email address accesibilidad@candelaria.es is available. In this new contract we would be talking about an expansion that involves 35 daily trips on the two lines, plus reinforcement from Monday to Friday, as well as one more trip a day during the school year to transfer students from IES Punta Larga to Igueste de Candelaria. , and 13 trips on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays”, said Jorge Baute, Councilor for Transport and Accessibility.

In March

Also in March, lines 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be tendered, which is now a joint taxi joint venture, to link the Plaza de Teror with the nuclei of Las Cuevecitas, Malpaís, Araya and Playa La Viuda. A service that has 14 years of history and that has been a pioneer on the island of Tenerife, being included in the Insular Transport Network, so that users who have the Titsa monthly bonus can use it at no cost, as long as they make 15 or more trips per month.
