The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Town Hall, through the Autonomous Organization of Parties and Recreational Activities (OAFAR) opens the term for the registration of bars to be located in the Carnival ring; in addition to the plots for attractions and stands at the Fair of the Santa Cruz Carnival.

The Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, highlights that “the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the period with the highest turnover of the year for our companies”, and is the one that generates the greatest expectation due to “the arrival of thousands of visitors from of all the Canary Islands, as well as the rest of the national territory and abroad.

In this sense, the mayor highlights that “leisure, restaurants and gastronomy become the real protagonists during these dates”; a sector that “generates around 16,000 direct jobs in the municipality”, in addition to “concentrating the second number of licenses for economic activities on the island, linked to these disciplines”.

For Cabello, “Carnival, in addition to being an important cultural manifestation”, is “a true booster of the economy”; since it generates “an important economic impact in the capital”; and, moreover, in a way democratic“by being distributed among many establishments located in different parts of the city.”

Applications to opt for any of the authorizations must be submitted in the standardized form provided at the municipal Electronic Office or through the link available on the web carnavaldetenerife.com; where the characteristics and requirements of each of them are also reported.

In the case of the installation of bars in restaurants, the deadline for submission is from today until next January 26. For public highway occupancy licenses for attractions and fairgrounds, they can also be submitted from today until January 18.

Carnival 2023 will start on Friday, January 20, with the inaugural Carnival gala, which will be followed by galas and contests until February 16. A day later, on February 17, the traditional Carnival Announcement Parade will be held, which will give way to the celebration of Shrovetide in the street under the usual calendar of dances in the streets and squares of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The carnival schedule is available on the website carnavaldetenerife.com
