The insular Minister of Highways, Enrique Arriaga, discussed with the mayor of Santa Úrsula, Juan Manuel Acosta, the construction of the Cuesta de la Villa roundabout, which will improve the intersection of the TF-217 with the access of the TF- 5. Also present at the meeting were the insular Director of Highways, Tomás Félix García; the first deputy mayor, Santiago Pérez, and residents and merchants of the Cuesta de la Villa.
Arriaga explained that “it is a highly complex work, given the unevenness of the terrain that requires lowering so that the roundabout has visibility in all its branches and thus reduces the risk of accidents.” In addition, he told them that the work will begin on January 17 and will have a completion period of five months. The budget reaches 597,219 euros, of which the Cabildo will contribute 75% and the rest will be covered by the City Council.
In addition, he stressed “that the Cabildo has sought a way to solve the traffic jams that occur in this area” and stated that “with this roundabout, we will gain fluidity on the TF-217, by facilitating the intersection of the intersection and reduce the risk of accidents. Likewise, he stressed that “every day an average of 3,530 vehicles circulate on this road that have been demanding this improvement for some time and, therefore, actions must be launched as soon as possible.” For the mayor, this roundabout is, without a doubt, “one of the works most demanded and expected by the residents, who have been suffering for years from traffic jams that daily, and at any time, from the TF-5 motorway and from La Orotava.”

For this reason, the president added that “this long-awaited infrastructure is not only necessary to reorganize and expedite traffic and end traffic jams, but it will allow greater safety for drivers who must cross this saturated intersection.”
For his part, the insular director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, explained that the objective is to build a circular roundabout of about 30 meters in external diameter, which has three branches that allow improving the circulation of the residents of the area and, above all, everything, “save them the time that they currently lose due to withholdings.”
