The economist Fátima Lemes will be the PP candidate for mayor of Arona

The economist Fátima Lemes, 40 years old, will be the candidate of the Popular Party for Mayor of Arona in the elections on May 28. The president of the PP of TenerifeEmilio Navarro, and the president of the popular in Arona, Pablo Morales Rancel, yesterday presented the candidate who, in Navarro’s opinion, “will be the only serious and rigorous alternative to govern Arona, since she not only represents a committee that He has done an important job over the last few years, but he is also a person prepared to assume, in a solvent way, the challenge of governing a municipality that, due to the disastrous management of the current government, is not going through its best moment”.

Navarro stressed that «Arona is the administrative center of the South and the engine economy of Tenerife and Canary Islands, that needs people like Fátima, who exemplify the illusion and strength necessary for the municipality to recover its role of reference in our community. Fátima Lemes assured that this is the greatest commitment of her life, for which she promised to “work intensely, based on rigorous management and in the general interest of the residents of Arona.”

In Lemes’s opinion, “Arona is in a situation of unprecedented deterioration” and he blamed the current socialist government for leaving “absolute paralysis” that “it is necessary to reverse immediately.” For the candidate, “the last 8 years have meant a process of loss of opportunities for our municipality, despite being one of the most important in the Canary Islands.” In addition, she added that “it will not be an easy path”, but she was “convinced that this project will manage to put Arona back in the place it deserves”.

During his speech, Lemes also made reference to the main lines of work of his project: tourism, the need to promote urban policies that allow the unblocking of the municipality, social action with people as a fundamental axis or transversal work in the field sustainability, among others.

Born in Valle San Lorenzo

Fatima Lemes was born in Valle San Lorenzo 40 years ago. She was a triathlete during a stage of her life and has been with the PP of Arona for about seven years. She was already on the lists in 2019, although not in starting positions, because for work reasons she could not “devote enough time to politics.” She has been responsible for the El Hierro Chamber of Commerce and currently works at the Arona Business Center, advising entrepreneurs. In addition, she is an Administrative Manager of the State.
