The tram reinforces its service at peak hours starting this Monday

The tram service of the metropolitan area will operate from this Monday with frequencies of less than 5 minutes during the morning and midday rush hours on weekdays. It is a measure provided by Metrotenerife, transport company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, due to the increase in the number of travelers due to the gratuity, which will be applied from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

6,000

free daily subscriptions

  • The public buses and trams of Tenerife, managed by the Cabildo, are distributing a daily average of 6,000 free passes since they came into force on January 1.

The service between the Interchange and Trinidad will operate with frequencies that will oscillate between 4 and 5 minutes, while Line 2 will provide service every 9 minutes. The insular Councilor for Mobility and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “although it may seem like a small change, these reinforcements will increase the number of trams in circulation and there will be a total of 21 vehicles operating simultaneously on the railway line.”

The Metrotenerife company recalls that the current 100% discount on tickets to travel on buses and trams only applies to customers who frequently use these public transports, and for which they must be holders of the Canarian Resident voucher or season tickets. Youth, Seniors and People with Disabilities.

Passengers who already have one of these tickets will be able to renew it and access this free of charge as long as they have made at least 15 trips in the previous 30 days. New users will be able to purchase them free of charge, by registering in the www.tenmas.es application, and then comply with this requirement of 15 trips for subsequent renewal, so that they can continue to enjoy the free service.

fifteen

trips for free

  • Access to free public transport passes in Tenerife can be done as long as at least 15 trips have been made in the previous 30 days.

above expectations

The rate of distribution of free bonuses, since the discount came into force on January 1, has exceeded expectations. The average exceeds 6,000 subscriptions per day, the insular vice-president Enrique Arriaga pointed out yesterday. Public buses and trams registered 12,768 ticket recharges during the first two days of free transport passes. In total, this means that the number of titles sold is nine times greater than that recorded in the same days of 2022. The resident subscription was the most demanded in those first two days, with 6,569 recharges, followed by the youth subscription, with 4,099 recharges. , the senior monthly pass with 992 and the monthly pass for people with disabilities 332.
