According to data from Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (Aena), the Barcelona aerodrome received a total of 521,807 passengers from Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna in 2022, which represents an increase of 40% compared to the 371,729 who arrived at Barcelona through this aerodrome in 2021. A figure that is equivalent to the seventh airport in terms of the number of travelers received in El Prat. The number of travelers from Lanzarote also increased by 22%, going from 171,132 to 208,716.

The insular president explains that this new connection supports the expectations, which he hopes to corroborate this month –from the 18th to the 22nd– at Fitur about “the good progress of the Spanish market”. He abounds that it is “our second in importance”, after the British, with 883,000 travelers staying in hotels and apartments on the Island (data up to last October).

The Boeing 737-800 is a common device on national flights. The 737 Next Generation is the name given to the −600, 700, 800 and 900 series– of the airliner. It is the third generation derived from the 737. Produced since 1996 by Boeing, it includes four variants with capacity for between 110 and 210 passengers. Air Europa, founded in 1984, made its first flight in 1986. In 1991 a group of investors, headed by Juan José Hidalgo, its president, acquired the company.
