A pocket of cold air settles over the Canary Islands and brings rain

A pocket of cold air will settle at the latitude of Canary Islands starting this Tuesday and until next Thursday. his influence will return the rain to the Islands, although they are not expected to be of great entity. The precipitations, according to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) They will be weak this Tuesday and may be locally moderate – especially in the north of the Archipelago – during the days of Wednesday and Thursday.

The cold air pocket will alter the trade wind situation that has been leaving clear days. When it hits the sea, which is hotter than usual, it may generate thick, high-altitude clouds with the possibility of dropping rain, which may be locally moderate as of Wednesday. Nor is it ruled out that this atmospheric ‘stir’ could leave precipitation in the form of snow on the summit of Tenerifealthough in principle, it would be weak.

For this reason, both Aemet and other scientists rule out that it is a storm. In fact, no notices of any kind have been activated either.

cloud blanket

For the day of this Tuesday, the Aemet foresees that there will be intervals of medium and high clouds, with a predominance of cloudy skies in the early hours of the afternoon. A blanket of clouds that will move from east to west of the archipelago. There will also be some intervals of low clouds to the north and east of the higher relief islands in the early hours.

It’s not discarded some occasional precipitation generally weakespecially in the eastern islands and Tenerife, and last hours in the northeast of La Palma. The minimum temperatures will remain unchanged or slightly rising (17 degrees) and the maximum with few changes (23 degrees). The wind from the eastern component will also blow, which will decrease slightly during the afternoon, with some strong intervals in the central peaks of Tenerife at the beginning.

Cloudy at sunrise on Wednesday

Already on Wednesday, the skies will dawn cloudy in the eastern islands and in the north and east of the western ones. In the rest of the areas it will dawn cloudy, but the skies will tend to open slightly with intervals mainly of medium and high clouds. It will rain weakly and locally moderately in the northeast of the islands with the highest relief, but the AEMET does not rule out that they are generally weak and occasional in the rest of the areas and islands. On the most mountainous islands, the minimum temperatures are unchanged or slightly rising, and the maximum temperatures are unchanged or slightly falling. There will be a change in the direction of the wind, which will begin to blow from the northeast, with strong intervals in the midlands and peaks of the western islands in the last hours.

Rainfall for Thursday

On Thursday, again, the skies will dawn covered and leaving some rain in the north and northeast of the islands of greater relief. It is not ruled out that rainfall may be locally persistent. In the rest of the islands and areas there will also be cloudy intervals, but in these places the rains will be weak and occasional. The minimum temperatures will continue with few changes and the maximum without changes or on a slight rise. The wind will continue to blow from the northeast, with strong intervals on the northwest and southeast coasts, as well as in the midlands and highlands.
