SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 8 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Island Society for the Promotion of People with Disabilities (Sinpromi), has managed 552 contracts for people with disabilities in 2022, which represents an increase of 4% compared to the contracts formalized in 2021 through the different employment programs in which the island company participates.

46% of these contracts, some 257, have allowed access to employment for people with severe disabilities, that is, those who have special support needs.

The third vice-president and counselor for Social Action, Marián Franquet, highlighted “the value that, beyond figures, these data have to advance in the full integration of people with disabilities and to continue advancing in the Cabildo’s commitment to the labor inclusion of people with greater difficulties, including people with intellectual disabilities and severe mental disorders, through specific methodologies such as Supported Employment, applied by Sinpromi”.

“If Sinpromi makes sense as a public company for something, it is because it provides quality employment for people with disabilities, thereby guaranteeing their access to a fundamental right that is key to promoting their personal development and autonomy,” said the counselor, who had an impact on ” the value provided by the inclusion of diversity and talent in company workforces”.

In total, there were 220 companies that in 2022 hired people with disabilities through Sinpromi, especially in the services and hospitality sector, with the most offered positions being those related to administrative staff, as well as cleaning, gardening, assistant waiter, dining room and cooking, driving vehicles and warehouse staff, among others.

In addition, through Sinpromin’s Labor Integration area, a total of 927 job seekers had the opportunity to attend at least one job interview during 2022.

Sinpromi has been a pioneer entity in the development of programs to facilitate the access of people with disabilities to the ordinary labor market, perfecting intermediation methodologies and influencing, in particular, those people with special integration difficulties, through Supported Employment .

This methodology is based on the incorporation of the person to work, together with specialized technical personnel from Sinpromi, who accompany and teach the tasks of the position. This professional figure supports during the adaptation process and remains for the necessary time, together with the person employed, until they guarantee adequate performance of the work. In addition, Sinpromi carries out monitoring, which continues throughout their working life.

Access to employment is one of Sinpromi’s most complex and priority commitments to promote personal development and the full inclusion of people with disabilities, promoting equal opportunities and diversity in work teams, as fundamental values towards progress. economic and social of the community.
