LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, 8 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The crew of the guardamar Calliope has consecutively rescued the occupants of two inflatable boats between last night and early today when they were sailing towards the Canary Islands, according to sources from the public body to Europa Press.

Although in the first count there were 84 people rescued by Maritime Rescue, finally a total of 89 people traveled in the two inflatable boats, all of sub-Saharan origin. The group included 14 women and 3 minors, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.

All those rescued were disembarked at the La Cebolla Dock, in Arrecife (Lanzarote). Once on land, they were assessed by the medical device made up of personnel from the Red Cross and the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and were in good health.

The operation coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Center in Las Palmas began at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and ended at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
