The Department of Local Economic Development The La Laguna City Council has processed six employment agreements for different municipal areas, two of them already underway, and designed to hire 333 unemployed people and which will mean that “the municipality can invest almost 4 million euros in the reinforcement of local employment policies, at the lowest cost for the municipal coffers and receiving important subsidies from different island, regional and state employment promotion programs”.
This was explained by the Councilor for Commerce and Economic Development, Aitami Bruno, who recalled that, “despite the positive data on the evolution of the labor market made public recently, we are going to continue generating all the necessary resources to reduce unemployment and improve job options of citizenship”.
“All thanks to the great work and professionalism of the technical team of the Local Economic Development Area -he continued-, which allows La Laguna to access the greatest number of subsidies possible and a considerable investment charged to programs of the European Social Fund, the Public Service of State Employment, the Canary Islands Employment Service and the Cabildo de Tenerife, in addition to expanding our contracting capacity through these employment plans and continuing to reinforce active policies and municipal employability promotion services”.

For the 2022-2023 period alone, the Area has submitted six projects to different supra-municipal programs and which will involve a total investment of 3,836,062.58 euros, of which the City Council will pay 247,668.43 euros.
Two of these local plans have already started. Thus, the one in Barrancos in transit through rural areas is already well advanced, which has allowed the hiring of 72 people, and another 122 have been hired for the plan to promote social employment.
