SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 4 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Autonomous Organization of Museums and Centers (OAMC), an entity dependent on the Cabildo de Tenerife, has recorded nearly 500 visitors between the ages of 4 and 12 thanks to the Open Holiday Christmas Camp, organized in the Museums of Nature and Archeology ( MUNA) and Science and Cosmos (MCC) between January 23 and 5.
The Island Councilor for Museums, Concepción Rivero, has stressed “the good reception this initiative has had” and added that many parents use it as a tool to reinforce children’s knowledge in a playful way.
In this line, he stressed that this activity “is an opportunity for the little ones to get closer to the heritage of our islands, learning about its value and how museums work on its study and conservation.”
In addition, the counselor stated that each year they do their best to create a unique program that accommodates the greatest number of participants possible and gave an example of the strategic use of two of the island’s museums in order to respond to the great population groups of Santa Cruz and La Laguna.
In the Museum of Nature and Archeology (MUNA) the activities dealt with nature, science, art and free time. For this, games and workshops were created in which the participating children were part of the world of volcanology, Guanche mummies, plant life and the environment.
One of the most outstanding days in the MUNA activities program was December 30, since the little ones were able to enjoy their particular New Year’s Eve party.
On the other hand, at the Museum of Science and the Cosmos (MCC) it launched an extensive program in which the little ones got to know the peculiarities of the Earth on a journey that began from the interior of the planet to beyond the Solar System .
Through various recreational activities, they were able to learn much more about magmatic activity, the magnetic field, the importance of water and air, life and its evolution, the greenhouse effect and global warming.
