The Sustainable City councilor, David Hernández, explains in a statement that last June, in view of the technical and legal reports requested from the area, “the firm decision” was made to decree the imminent ruin of the property and to give all the steps that said decree establishes.

The present procedure began last March after an analysis of all the unfinished files that were operating in the area that would culminate in the declaration of imminent ruin of the same.

In this sense, the mayor considers that this process that has begun is “a key step” to begin to put an end to a historical problem and to improve the environment and living conditions in that area of the municipality, “both for visitors and for inhabitants of the town and the residents of the property themselves.

The first actions, such as the eviction and the fencing of the building, were executed by the consistory given the lack of response from the property.

With the property vacated, the area proceeded to officially notify the declaration of imminent ruin and the obligations derived from it to all the owners of the building.

The next step, as dictated by the decree of ruin issued on June 7, is the drafting of the demolition project, which must be submitted by the owners of the property within two months.

In addition, prior to completing the drafting of the project, the drafting team could establish other urgent building protection measures such as propping that ensures the previous work to be carried out on the structure.

In the event that the period elapses and the property has not complied with the obligations of the decree, the Sustainable City area will have legal protection to be able to assume the contracting procedure of the building demolition project, through the subsidiary execution of the actions ordered. .

Subsequently, as the property is in a legal situation of consolidation and its demolition is ordered by the administration, reconstruction will be allowed with the same building area as the replaced property, as indicated by the Canarian urban legislation.
