The Candelaria Town Hall awarded the drafting of the municipal auditorium project to the Jorge Mosquera Paniagua Architecture Studio, for 164,815 euros and a period of five months for its preparation. The execution of the winning proposal will require an investment of more than seven million euros, according to the estimates transferred to the Consistory by the winning team of architects.
The Councilor for Urban Planning, Reinaldo Triviño, points out that the design proposal contemplates the construction of a multidisciplinary space, with the capacity to carry out activities linked to culture through music, the theaterdance, screenings, teaching, concerts and group meetings for rehearsals.
In addition to the auditorium, the building will house spaces for complementary services, such as changing rooms, dressing rooms and a rehearsal room, as well as two floors for parking with a capacity for 88 spaces, access to which will be enabled from Crugiola Street.
The future municipal auditorium of Villa Mariana will occupy the space that is now the bus station, located on Rambla Los Menceyes. An infrastructure that did not meet expectations and whose dimensions made it impossible to use it correctly.
The municipal government defines the awarding of the drafting of the auditorium project as “great news for local culture and music”. This is how the bands of the municipality transferred itBanda Las Candelas and the Nueva Banda de Igueste, to the mayoress of Candelaria, Mari Brito, when she informed them about it during the joint concert they offered on December 30.
With the municipal auditorium “coverage is given to a historical demand from groups, especially bands, which require a space more in line with their current characteristics.” Brito emphasizes that it is “a project that we have pursued for a long time and we hope that it will soon become a reality.”
This infrastructure will form part of the network of spaces for culture, “which constitutes an essential resource for the social and citizen participation of the municipality.” They are facilities distributed throughout the local geography that offer multipurpose and open places for the enjoyment, development, management and exhibition of social and cultural activities.
