The municipalities of the South will welcome the new year with parties that will be reminiscent of the celebrations prior to the pandemic and in which the Canarian orchestras will recover their lost prominence and will entertain, together with local DJs, the vast majority of dances planned throughout the region .

There will also be fireworks that will illuminate the southern sky, after the chimes, to welcome 2023. The municipalities have planned special security and cleaning operations to guarantee the safety of attendees, especially in the celebrations of Los Cristianos and El Médano, where the largest concentrations of public are expected.

Arona, the most populous municipality in the southern part of the island, has prepared two stages with different atmospheres in the surroundings of the Cultural Center of Los Cristianos. One of them will be located in the Plaza del Pescador, in which the wamampy orchestra starting at 10:00 p.m. and, later, Tropin Latin Music and Los Ideales.

The leading role on the other stage, located on Calle Valle Menéndez (in front of the Local Police offices), will be for disyoquey David Pérez, who will perform before the chimes, Quique Sierra, Joan Roca and Pablo Barrios.

The party will begin at 10:00 p.m. and will last until 5:30 a.m. Before the end of the year chimes, the City Council will distribute cotillions to the attendees and, at the moment the clock strikes midnight, fireworks will be launched from the terraces of the cultural center, reported the Consistory.

Another of the municipalities where the transition from one year to the next will be lived intensely will be Granadilla de Abona. The central square of El Médano will once again bring together thousands of people who, in addition, will have free transportation authorized by the City Council. One of the routes will depart from Chimiche and will travel through Los Blanquitos, El Desierto, Granadilla and El Salto until reaching El Médano. The second route will start in Charco del Pino and will circulate through San Isidro, Atogo, Casablanca and Los Abrigos. Outbound trips will depart at 10:00 p.m. and return trips at 06:00 a.m., in both cases at the Titsa stops.

The musical performances will begin at 10:30 p.m. and will be performed by Aparrandados, Atlantic, Los Ideales, Tropin and Wamampy, as reported by the Department of Culture and Festivals, which, in addition, has planned this afternoon, starting at 6:00 p.m., a special party for the little ones in the Plaza de la Cultura in San Isidro, which will feature shows, entertainment, bouncy castles and even bells and lucky grapes.

A similar commitment, aimed at boys and girls, will be carried out by the San Miguel de Abona City Council, which today will convert the Las Chafiras sports center into a large children’s amusement park. From 7:30 p.m., children will be able to enjoy Christmas workshops, magic beans and bouncy castles, among other activities.

The municipality of Adeje has programmed its New Year’s Eve party in the Plaza de España, between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., enlivened by the DJ Juacko and the Maquinaria Band and Sensación Gomera orchestras. Another of the incentives for tomorrow’s session will be “living Christmas in the Agromercado”, municipal sources explain. The venue will be open to the public between 08:00 and 13:30.

In Santiago del Teide, the epicenter of the festivities will be located in Los Gigantes, specifically in the Buganvilla square, from where Mírame TV will broadcast its chimes throughout the Archipelago. The performances will begin at 10:30 p.m. and will last until “the wee hours of the morning,” they say from the City Hall, with Musically Show, the group La Calle, the local orchestra Maraury and DJs Nicky and 8Smile. Cotillion and lucky grapes will be distributed among the public, there will also be fireworks and “many more surprises”.

The party atmosphere will not be lacking in Guía de Isora either. The Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Luz, next to the church, in the heart of the town, will host the New Year’s Eve dance at midnight to the rhythm of the Guaracha orchestra and DJs Jorge Siverio and Code.

In Arico, the celebration to receive the New Year will take place in the Plaza del Porís de Abona, starting at 10:30 p.m., where the orchestras Generación, Sonora Olympia, the group La Calle and Enrique Barrios will take the stage.
