David Wladimir de La Rosa Aguilar returned this year to win one of the prizes of the Santa Cruz Nativity Scene Contest. In this case, he won the first prize in the outdoor category with the birth that he installs every year in Barranco Grande, and that, due to the pandemic, he had not been able to resume. Those who want to see it can still do so.

It is located next to the Church of San Felipe, and can be visited from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. In this category, which also includes neighborhood associations, the Guacimara-La Gallega Neighborhood Association won second prize, repeating the award achieved in 2021.

The main novelty of this LII Santa Cruz Nativity Scene Contest is that it has been possible to revisit the births installed in private homes. A category in which Felipe Evaristo Hernández emerged as the winner with a classic nativity scene in which he reproduces the day-to-day life of the city of Bethlehem.

In second place were other old acquaintances from the contest, which they have entered every year and in which they almost always win a prize. This is the case of Miguel Ángel Méndez and his wife, María Remedios García, with the curiosity that it is a birth at various heights. You can also visit it on Avenida Príncipes de España, Chimisay Bajo, 3-B3-P 3ºA, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Non-profit entities, including parishes and shop windows, the winner was the Horizonte Association, whose nativity scene is located on Trasera de Gara y Jonay street, in the Las Cabritas neighborhood. The birth of the Nuestra Señora de África Market was in second place, it is installed in the central patio of La Recova.

In the category of Primary and Secondary schools, CEIPs Hispano Inglés emerged as the winner, followed by CEIP Fray Albino, both centers located in the Centro-Ifara District.

Altogether there were 20 nativity scenes that participated in this year’s contest, some of which, in addition to those already mentioned, can still be visited. This is the case of the El Rastro showcase, which can be visited at Calle Ramón y Cajal, 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and also that of Dailos Rodríguez, who won third prize in the category of private homes, at Calle Ramón Trujillo Torres, 13-4D, Bº La Salud, daily from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
