The Cabildo guarantees a contribution of 1.3 million euros in 2023 for the program Tenerife Solidarity Island who turned 25 years old. The insular president, Pedro Martín, received the winners of the 2022 Solidarity Awards framed in this project.
Martín highlighted “the solidarity work and dedication of the people of Tenerife in social causes for the benefit of the people and the Island”. He considers the president of Tenerife that “this is how you contribute to having a better society.” The game for the next financial year is intended to give continuity and promote services, campaigns and actions to help the integrated social entities and groups.
The Minister of Citizen Participation, Nauzet Gugliotta, highlighted the commitment to solidarity actions on the Island. He thanked this disinterested work, which usually goes unnoticed.
At a gala held in El Sauzal a few days ago, 14 honorable mentions and 2 second prizes were awarded. The jury recognized the work of the Promemar association for its underwater cleaning actions and raising awareness in defense of the environment. Also to Kaua de Taco, for their actions to promote healthy habits among youth. The José Luis Montesinos Canary Islands Foundation was also distinguished for its care services for migrants. Caixabank and Mercadona received an award for their commitment and collaboration with the entities. As well as the CEO Betencourt Molina and Hispano Inglés educational centers.
The Military Logistics Support Group No. 81, which collaborates in the transfer of goods, was also distinguished. In the media category, the online radio program La Vida es Bella, which gives visibility to disability, and the digital journalism newspaper of the ULL.
The awards gave special recognition to volunteers, especially women. Juan Enrique Hernández, Dácil Molina, Soukeina Ndiaye and Fermina Gutiérrez received awards for their solidarity commitment. The two second prizes went to Hilda Siverio and CEIP Camino Largo.
