The Council of Tenerife has started some emergency works in the highway of regional interest TF-1 with the objective of cleaning up a slope that is located in the curve prior to the Las Caletillas linkin a southerly direction.
During working hours, it will be necessary to proceed to cut some sections of the road, reports the Cabildo.
The First Vice President and Island Councilor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, explains in the note that the means used to contain the structure of this slope are already badly affected by previous landslides and by the passage of time, which makes it necessary to replace them immediately.
Arriaga adds that during the three months that the works will last, the cleaning of the slope is expected to be carried out in order to prevent future landslides and details that this includes both the projection of concrete mortar to reinforce the structure, as well as the installation of a support system formed by steel cables.
For his part, the island director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, reports that until January 8, 2023, the works will be carried out from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and that during this time the right lane of the road will be cut. in a southerly direction; while from the 8th, work will be done at night, that is, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and, on this occasion, it will be necessary to cut the entire roadway in the south direction, so that in this time slot the traffic will be divert to the left lane of the road in the direction Santa Cruz.
Specifically, 350,220 euros will be allocated to carry out the clearing, sanitation and insurance of this slope, so that the safety of the road can be guaranteed. The affected area is between kilometer points 13.25 and 13.40, located in the municipality of Candelaria.
