The expected Tenerife Children’s and Youth Park (PIT), emblematic of the Christmas holidays, reopened its doors yesterday after two years without being able to celebrate it due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. And it has returned with 35 different play areas, in which playful, physical and educational activities are combined.

Since before 3:30 p.m., there were already people waiting at the doors of the Fairgrounds to access the park, which in this edition is inspired by world travel and discovery. Children, families and also many teenagers, wanting to enjoy the many attractions organized for all ages.

“Today begins the first day of the 15 that the PIT will be open, with 35 different spaces, and in which we wanted to tour the world, with representations from different places, but also with environmental awareness, because it has to start early with the little ones”, affirmed yesterday the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, during the inauguration, which included a small musical performance. “And we are very happy because the game and the fun are back, and a sign that Christmas has arrived and we recover that long-awaited normality,” emphasized the island president.

Likewise, the Island Councilor for Employment, Socioeconomic Development, Employment and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, highlighted the return of “one of the largest meeting points at Christmas time for families on the Island, and we return with many activities for all ages”, putting in value those for “the awareness of our environment, environment and cultural heritage”.

The counselor also appreciated that “we contribute to boosting economic activity during these holidays”, since only the assembly and maintenance of the fair requires the direct hiring of 250 people, as well as many others indirectly.

The park covers 18,000 square meters of surface dedicated to all kinds of activities, which filled up as the afternoon progressed with children jumping, laughing and enjoying themselves, and parents waiting patiently in the chairs provided or taking photos of their children, as well as groups of adolescents.

PIT Activities

On the upper floor of the Fairgrounds you can find, for example, well-known attractions such as the octopus or the bumper cars, climbing walls, a small pool with boats, obstacle jumping, mechanical bulls, mats or attractions for the little ones, among other. In addition, there are workshops installed, such as renewable energy or programming, and a theater. While on the ground floor you can practice different sports, as well as skate on the ice rink.

Many repeat and others come for the first time, like Teresa and María Luisa, who brought their children and some of their friends from school. “I came with my daughter and her friends, the truth is that I see it very well, you can spend the morning or the entire afternoon here calmly, with your family,” said María Luisa, on her first visit to the park. Teresa, who had already come in other editions, brought her son and her daughter and regretted that this year “the height limit limits” more when it comes to being able to get on some attractions.

The PIT will remain open until January 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., but with special hours on the 24th, 25th and 31st of this month, and on January 1st and 5th. The entrance has a general cost of nine euros and with it you can enjoy all the activities as many times as you want. Children under three years of age, over 65 years of age and people with a disability certificate will be able to enter for free, while large families have a reduced price of six euros per ticket.
