The Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary IslandsSebastián Franquis, held a meeting with the president of the Federation of Construction Entrepreneurs of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Fepeco), Oscar Izquierdo. In this context, he informed him about the planning of projects and works whose purpose is to modernize the roads of Tenerife and put an end to the collapses that hinder the connectivity of the Island.
Franquis told Izquierdo that the Ministry of Public Works has invested 360 million euros in the three and a half years of the legislature to launch four works and 13 projects with this objective. “As I promised in Parliament, I am going to inform the economic and social sectors of this Island of the actions to recover modernity in the infrastructures of Tenerife in the coming years.” The counselor Franquis affirmed this, who added that “to this end we have already implemented 81% of the actions provided for in the Highway Agreement for Tenerife”.
He added that “there has been a serious planning effort, the gray work that no one sees but which is essential so that in the next year and a half a significant volume of public investment in roads will be seen on this Island, which will mean the beginning of the end for the Collapse problems that have dragged these roads for years ».
During the meeting, held at the Fepeco headquarters, the regional councilor explained to Óscar Izquierdo that a dozen projects have already been awarded both in the southern region of Tenerife and to improve the TF-5, in the north. For his part, Óscar Izquierdo assured that the meeting was “very profitable” and appreciated the counselor’s willingness to sit down with the economic and social sectors of Tenerife to report on his projects. «After speaking with the counselor, I continue to keep intact the hope that all the projects that he has announced to us will be launched as quickly as possible, and I have informed him that the Government of Canary Islands will always count on the collaboration of Fepeco, as construction employer in the province, to relieve congestion in Tenerife.
