SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS), an autonomous body of the Cabildo de Tenerife, will allocate a specific part of its budget to promote the physiotherapy, pedagogy and social work services that the Pequeño Valiente Children with Cancer Association will offer next year.
Specifically, it will dedicate 53,574 euros to improving the quality of life of the affected girls and boys and their families, attending to the needs that may arise in the educational, physical recovery or community field.
The Councilor for Social Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Marián Franquet, explains in a note that there are aspects that are often not taken into account but that “are really relevant to the day-to-day life of those who suffer from this disease and their families” and He gives as an example the need for concrete support for girls and boys who, for health reasons, are forced to be absent from school.
“Our job is to listen to those who need our attention and assistance, and we have done that with the mothers and fathers that make up this association, this is the result of the dialogue with the entity,” he explains.
Likewise, it highlights the role of third sector entities as “the main motor that, together with the IASS, moves the social action of the island, reaching every corner and every need of the island territory.”
This grant joins the funding that the island corporation has offered to the entity in previous years, for which they will receive a total of 141,047 euros to reduce the impact of the disease on patients and their families, as well as disseminating knowledge.
Thanks to this increase, the Pequeño Valiente Children with Cancer association will have three professionals in physiotherapy, pedagogy and social work, which will allow the implementation of the projects promoted by the entity for next year.
