The PP deputies left the chamber when Marrero (Sí Podemos) referred to the TC vote as a “coup of robes and seagulls”

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The groups of the ‘Pact of Flowers’ –PSOE, NC, Sí Podemos and ASG– have carried out this Tuesday the latest budgets of the Legislature for the year 2023, which grow by 11.9% to 10,180 million.

The Vice President and Minister of Finance, Román Rodríguez, has thanked the work “and the trust” of the groups that support the Executive and the “calm leadership” of the President, Ángel Víctor Torres, in a “difficult” legislature due to the pandemic, the volcanic eruption and inflation crisis.

“We have lived up to it”, he pointed out, emphasizing that they have not left anyone behind or deceived anyone and he has shown his desire that popular sovereignty “does not break”, in reference to the paralysis of the reform of the Constitutional Court.

The accounts have been enriched with more than 300 amendments from all groups -more than 200 from the quadripartite and a hundred from the opposition-, among them the zero rate of the IGIC for products related to livestock, that negotiations be opened with a maximum of three months for the workers of public companies and foundations to recover 5% of lost wages or for public universities to be able to finance themselves with 4.5 million of the remnants to face the rise in prices and wages of the workers, plus another game of an additional three million.

Likewise, surveillance of fuel prices on the green islands will be increased, the employment plan for La Palma will be modified and improved, an agreement will be signed with the La Palma Bar Association to provide assistance to people affected by the volcanic eruption or the search for an agreement is established, through the legal services of the autonomous community, to regularize the teachers of the music conservatories.

The budget includes credit for 100 million euros for the reconstruction of La Palma after the eruption – plus another 60 million -, a tax savings plan valued at another 100 million, at a rate of 105 euros per taxpayer, and social spending of 7,478 million euros (+9.4%).

CS: LITTLE FISCAL AMBITION

The Cs deputy, Ricardo Fernández, has commented that the budgets are based on erroneous premises and are guilty of “defects” because they want to make a “bigger” administration, prioritizing public services, and without addressing the “structural deficits”.

He has indicated that there is a lack of ambition in fiscal measures and more tax reductions, stressing that although tourism improves and recovers, it has not yet reached the benefits of before the pandemic due to inflation.

The representative of the Mixed Group, Vidina Espino, has accused the Government of the Canary Islands of “collecting with full hands” while the Canaries are impoverished by inflation and the Executive “does not soften.”

He has also commented that the Executive’s tax relief is “insignificant” and has reproached the Government for not wanting to negotiate any amendment, comparing the vice president, Román Rodríguez, with the protagonist of ‘A Christmas Carol’, the miser Mr. Scrooge, for his collection effort.

The spokesman for the Gomera Socialist Group (ASG), Casimiro Curbelo, stressed that they have “made history at the worst moment”, stressing that not only “has not sunk” the Canary Islands but has begun the “recovery” against the “tsunami” of the pandemic, to which inflation and the effects of the war in Ukraine have now been added.

He has highlighted that basic services have been strengthened, workers were protected with ERTEs and companies with public aid were maintained, which has ended with “fewer unemployed and more members of Social Security”, although extreme poverty has grown , the same as the surgical waiting list.

MARRERO: THE GOVERNMENT LEAVES ITS “SEAL”

The spokesman for Sí Podemos, Manuel Marrero, said that the 2023 regional budget has the “seal” of a stable government and “committed to society” that has always prioritized the general interest and has commented that the accounts strengthen public services and they help the most vulnerable people –adds to the recent approval of the citizen income law–.

Marrero has warned of the “dangerous robes and seagulls coup” promoted with the paralysis of the reform of the Constitutional Court that follows in the wake of the “rattling of sabers and the entry of Tejero firing shots into Congress”, at which time the PP deputies have left the chamber.

Esther González (NC) has affirmed that the budgets are adapted to the “aftermath” of two crises, the pandemic and the eruption, plus inflation and the war in Ukraine, since they are “expansive” and prudent “and have a markedly progressive character.

He has indicated that they are “responsible” because the indebtedness decreases in the face of the foreseeable recovery of fiscal rules and with “selective lowering” of taxes and stressed that the basic rights of citizens are guaranteed “and it is not forgotten” about poverty or unemployment.

He has also highlighted that the criticism of the opposition is “electoral” since the collection does not rise only due to inflation, and there has been “more aid than ever” for SMEs and measures to support families, not as in the previous crisis , when the bank was saved.

The deputy of the Popular Group Fernando Enseñat has said that the Government has been “incapable” of solving the problems of the Canaries after having more than 40,000 million in four years, for which reason he has predicted that the left will leave the Executive.

“In May they will leave a Canary Islands worse than the one they found”, he stressed, stressing that the budgets are based on extraordinary European and state funds that make them “structural”.

He has said that the budgets “punish” the canaries when inflation “eats up” their income, with 500 million more in tax collection and a “ridiculous” tax reduction “of 8 euros a month” that does not compensate for the rise in prices and interest rates. “It’s a tease and a mockery,” she pointed out.

DÁVILA: A GOVERNMENT “FIASCO”

The deputy of the Nationalist Group Rosa Dávila has called the ‘Pact of Flowers’ a “fiasco” and a “failed government”, which has functioned as disconnected “taifa kingdoms” and without a “clear, efficient and solvent” economic policy.

“With you, the Canaries are poorer,” he pointed out, given that many families “go to the hunger queues” or “eat thanks to the grandparents’ pension” when the Executive has disposed of more than 2,300 million more in recent four years.

He has said that the Canaries “are poorer and spend more for the Government”, which is also “incapable” of spending the money, while accusing the Executive of not “discussing” before a central government “that has done what He has wanted it in the Canary Islands”. “Torres is a weak and pusillanimous president,” he added.

The deputy of the Socialist Group, Matilde Fleitas, has indicated that the ‘Pact of Flowers’ “has fulfilled” in four years with the economy and public services despite the pandemic and sees a “success” that up to four accounts have been approved regional authorities in due time and form during the Legislature, confirming his “serious” line of work.

He has said that the opposition “does not have a problem with the budget but with the Government”, has denied that the “roller” is applied since many amendments cannot be applied from a technical point of view, and has asked himself “what upset that it is collected” if that money is used to enhance the services.
