Christmas is breathed in all the towns and neighborhoods of the South. Now without sanitary restrictions due to COVID-19, the municipalities have prepared extensive programs of activities aimed at all audiences with which, in addition, they seek to support local commerce. With this objective, they have also opted for generous lighting in streets and squares.

Arona has installed its Christmas lighting in 120 locations in the municipality and has programmed up to 60 activities for all ages, including the implementation of one of the novelties in the region: the consumption voucher, with which the City Council subsidizes 50% of purchases in stores. In addition, since the 10th, the Bus of Emotions, a two-story vehicle that transports Santa Claus, has circulated through all the neighborhoods, with which the boys and girls can talk, take photos and deliver their letters until the 23rd. Another attraction is the synthetic ice rink in Las Galletas, available until the 26th, where skaters will have the help of a sled, a penguin and a polar bear.

Adeje’s Christmas program consists of multiple events in the town center and in the neighbourhoods, with decoration in the squares and streets and various activities such as workshops, shows and Christmas carols. The concert that Los Sabandeños will offer in the Plaza de España on the eve of Christmas Eve stands out. The little ones will enjoy the playground in the El Galeón pavilion, while the great New Year’s Eve party in the Plaza de España will be another of the outstanding proposals. There will also be live nativity scenes and even opera for children.
Under the title The Heart of Christmas, Granadilla de Abona offers a cultural and leisure agenda with more than thirty activities that began on November 25 with the lighting and premiere of the municipal Christmas carol. Among the attractions for these dates, the great ice rink in the Los Hinojeros park and the recreational-sports venue in the sports hall stand out. The year will end with the San Silvestre Medanera and the traditional festival in the Plaza de El Médano, with the participation of five orchestras.

In San Miguel de Abona, festivals, workshops, animation, concerts, popular races, exhibitions, theatrical performances and a craft fair have been prepared in all the neighborhoods of the municipality. The City Council has promoted a campaign to encourage shopping in small businesses in the municipality, which includes a raffle for gifts.

After installing more than 200 Christmas motifs and turning on lights in the 17 nuclei of the municipality, Guía de Isora has planned an ambitious calendar of cultural activities, which include the Canary Islands Gospel Festival, the Sacred Music Festival, the Tarzan show , the performance of Los Cantadores and the concert by José Manuel Ramos and Benito Cabrera.

Santiago del Teide celebrates the arrival of Christmas with 70 activities, including the traditional Los Cantadores concert and the New Year’s Eve party at Los Gigantes. The Consistory has reinforced its support for local commerce at this time through the A Closer Christmas campaign and the installation of markets. Another of the highlights will be the gastronomic act A cliff of flavors.

Arico is illusion at these parties, as indicated by its Christmas slogan. After several concerts and the gathering of Christmas carols, the leading role in the days to come will be for the parrandas, which will tour the main centers of the municipality; the musical date Vino dulce y polvorón and the Christmas Camp for boys and girls between 4 and 11 years old until January 5th. The year will end with the Lyrical Concert in the Church of San Juan Bautista and San Silvestre de Abades.
