More than 300 aroneros benefit this year from the employment plans

A group of seventy-three unemployed people in a situation of vulnerability have begun to serve in the Arona City Council within the framework of a new plan for jobthe Arona Social Employment Program 2022-2023, that allows them to sign a nine-month contract and quote during that period. The program has a cost of 1.3 million euros, co-financed between the municipality (with a contribution of more than half a million euros) and the Canary Islands Employment Service (830,000 euros).

The ntotal number of beneficiaries of the plan are 116, of which the vast majority, 73, began their tasks last Friday. All this under and with the conditions of the collaboration framework agreement between the Canary Employment Serviceor (SCE) and the Canarian Federation of Municipalities (Fecam).

The group of workers benefiting from this project were received at the Cabo Blanco Civic Center by the mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, and by the councilor for the Economic Promotion area, Raquel García. Also present were those responsible for the areas of Culture and Tourism, José Alberto Delgado; Senior Citizens and Social Services, Ruth Lorenzo, and Security and Sports, Francisco Marichal.

With these 73 people, the number of beneficiaries of social employment plans in the municipality of aronero It has exceeded 320 throughout this year of 2022, a year in which the unemployment data in Arona have decreased significantly.

Unemployment fell 1% in November compared to October and 19.1% year-on-year, up to 6,075 unemployed

Specifically, and according to the figures collected by the Canary Islands Employment Observatory, unemployment has fallen by 1% in November compared to October, while, compared to November of last year, the decrease has been 19.1%, going from 7,512 people to registering 6,075.

Of those who found a job for nine months in the Arona Town Hallthe municipal government explains that 17 will develop administrative assistant work another six will be assigned to tasks in the libraries, 10 will carry out the functions of orderly, another 10 will work as socio-cultural monitors, seven are commissioned to work for the Home Help service. The rest of those hired will work in tasks ranging from ushers to warehouse lads, through sports monitors, among others.

The municipal government led by José Julián Mena maintains that “his work will be essential for the services provided by areas such as the Elderly, Social Services, Culture, Tourism and Sports, among others.”
