SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The airline Royal Air Maroc has resumed its connection between Tenerife and Casablanca with a total of 2,170 seats for this winter season.

This route was suspended during the pandemic and adds two weekly frequencies per trip, on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro, stated in a note that “the return of Royal Air Maroc supposes a strategic added value to the diversification and internationalization of the destination, since the Mohamed V Airport is an important node of connectivity with the Middle East, United States and Canada”.

Castro emphasizes that the Cabildo is working intensely “to expand the island’s connectivity with those markets, also through the hubs in Madrid, Lisbon and Reykjavik.”

Now, he continues, “we are incorporating another strategic connection point, Casablanca, which adds to the direct connection we already have with Agadir, through Ryanair.”

The island manager also anticipates that “connectivity with Morocco will add a total of 9,898 beds this winter”, which will allow, “in addition to increasing the flow of tourists, improve economic activity between the archipelago and the continent”.

For his part, the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez, assures that “this route expands the possibilities of incorporating new tourist circuits for North American travelers who have expressed interest in connecting with Madeira and other islands once they travel to Tenerife” .

In addition, he explains that Royal Air Maroc is part of the Oneworld Alliance, which also includes other major airlines such as Qatar Airways, Iberia and British Airways, “which implies yet another incentive to improve the offer through its own hub”.

The route is being operated by an ATR 72 with 70 seats. Departures from Casablanca are at 9:25 a.m. with arrival in Tenerife at 11:35 a.m. while departure from Casablanca takes place at 12:30 p.m., arriving at 4:15 p.m.

Royal Air Maroc reaches more than 80 destinations in 41 territories around the world and includes frequent departures to the largest capitals in Europe, North America, South America, Africa, the Maghreb region and the Middle East.
