SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Education and Youth area, has presented this Thursday the new edition of ‘Merkarte Navidad’, an art market that will exhibit the works of 29 young people and can be enjoyed between December 21 and 8 from January.

The Minister of Education and Youth, Concepción Rivero, presented the details of this event that will take place at the headquarters of the European University of the Canary Islands in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, together with the rector, Cristiana Oliveira.

Concepción Rivero assured that the exhibition “will be a boost for the emerging artists who participate in the project, since it will allow them to make themselves known and obtain profits from the sale of their works.”

In addition, he took the opportunity to recall that “Merkarte serves to help creators from different disciplines to join the complex art market at the moment when they need it most, which is at the beginning of their career”.

The counselor stressed that “this market will also serve to revitalize the area on these very special dates, since in addition to the exhibition you will be able to enjoy different meetings with the artists who will address issues such as the incorporation of young creative talents into the world of work or its link with the tourism industry”.

Along these lines, he recalled that admission will be free and invited the public to take part in this event.

For her part, the rector of the European University of the Canary Islands, Cristiana Oliveira, stated that “it is a pleasure to be able to collaborate in this highly disruptive initiative that has a philosophy aligned with that of the University.”

In addition, he stressed the slogan of this edition, ‘We were, we are’ and assured that those responsible for launching this initiative were also “young people with ideas and illusions” and that they achieved their objectives, not only thanks to their efforts but also also “to the support and help of other people”.

The new edition of ‘Merkarte Christmas’ will open next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and will present the artistic works of the young authors of this project with prices set by themselves, since they will collect the full benefit of their sales.

TRIBUTE TO ÓSCAR DOMÍNGUEZ AND MARÍA BELÉN MORALES

In addition, in this edition a tribute has been paid to relevant Canarian figures who were young talents such as Oscar Domínguez and María Belén Morales, sculptor and painter who organized the first exhibition for women artists in the Canary Islands.

For this, promotional posters for the event have been designed that include illustrations of these artists as well as their data and their most relevant milestones.

The artists who will star in ‘Merkarte Navidad’ are Alberto Cernadas Delgado, Casandra Cabrera García, Aythami Cruz Darias, Anastasia Khudyakova, Aaron Rodríguez Díaz, Alba Botarda Díaz, Rut Cavero Luján, Pedro Perdomo, Alba Dorta Vega, Romén Acosta Pérez, María López Pérez , Elvira Piedra Vera, Ruth Ibáñez Janssen, Gara Acosta Pérez, Haridian Cristina Delgado Garcia, María del Pilar González Monje, Laura Sánchez-Manzano, Jule Rietz, Marina Valls, Héctor León, Ana Amaya, Rima Ciplyte, Jonel Rodríguez, Amalia Izquierdo , Arturo López Domingo, Irene Morales, Borja Pineda, Elena Sabina Fajardo and Vanessa Panozo Ricaldes.

The hours will be from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., except Saturday 24 and 31, which will close at 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.

In addition, on Thursday the 5th the hours will be extended until 10:00 pm, taking advantage of Three Kings Eve, and on Friday the 6th the exhibition will remain closed.

Sunday 8 is the last day of sales, so the doors will open exceptionally between 10:00 and 13:00.
