SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, participated this Thursday in the closing day of the ‘Neighborhoods for Employment: Stronger Together’ program corresponding to 2022, with which the island corporation has managed, for the second consecutive year, to overcome the barrier of the 1,000 people with difficult job placement who have been given access to a job.
The meeting, which brought together more than 200 people, including companies, participants and program technicians, was also attended by the Island Councilors for Employment and Social Action, Carmen Luz Baso and Marián Franquet, respectively.
Pedro Martín stressed that the good results of this program respond to the increase of more than one million euros in the budget that has been allocated to ‘Neighborhoods for Employment’ in this mandate, reaching 3.9 million euros per year.
“From the beginning we worked to strengthen the effectiveness of this program, providing it with new resources and services, such as the one we have begun to provide through Sinpromi to facilitate the incorporation of people with disabilities into the labor market,” he said in a note sent by the corporation.
Within the framework of the conference, Pedro Martín thanked the collaboration of Tenerife companies that participate in the non-labor practices offered by the program.
“This year we have helped 1,311 people to find a job and you have opened the doors to be able to do it,” said the president in a meeting with businessmen and women.
Along these lines, he added that through their collaboration “companies demonstrate that they are not only a resource to generate economic benefit but also social benefit.”
For her part, Carmen Luz Baso highlighted the work of the five entities and the close to 100 technicians who collaborate in the program, under the coordination of Fifede, such as Cáritas, the Red Cross, the Don Bosco Salesianos Foundation, the University of La Laguna Foundation (ULL) and Sinpromi, and stressed the importance of this type of meeting to coordinate the professional profiles most in demand by companies with the training provided in ‘Neighborhoods for Employment’.
For her part, Marián Franquet highlighted the importance of Sinpromi’s involvement in the programme, “helping people with disabilities to access their right to have a job with which they can contribute actively and fully to society “.
TRAINING OF 500 PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
He stressed that in the first two years that this service has been running, this specialized service has trained 500 people with disabilities.
In total, 5,137 people with greater difficulties in accessing a job have been attended this year in one of the more than 30 offices spread throughout the island that ‘Barrios por el Empleo’ has.
In addition, one in four has managed to enter the labor market and 1,093 have received professional training, mainly related to the service sector and in particular to the hotel industry, food sales and distribution companies, and tourism.
The program offers personalized attention tailored to the needs of each participating person, which includes guidance services, training, labor intermediation and non-working practices in companies in order to improve their employability.
In addition, it has a special service for vulnerable groups, such as homeless people, people with disabilities, trans groups, migrants, and young people with special socio-personal conditions.
