CC proposes to redistribute 48.3 million to fight against inflation

The island group of Canarian Coalition proposes to redistribute 48.3 million euros from the 2023 budget to fight inflation in Tenerife. He will take to tomorrow’s plenary session a motion to financially provide seven specific anti-crisis measures. The nationalist candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, explains: “It is necessary to compensate the families of the Island.”

Dávila points out that “in addition to the social measures, we have presented these seven initiatives to alleviate the extra cost.” The first of these is linked to free public transport that will be implemented from January 1 “thanks to the Canary Islands Coalition.” It indicates that “it is necessary that the Government of the Canary Islands transfer some 32 million euros so that Titsa and Metropolitano can continue to function normally”, while “2.4 million euros for the taxi sector in Tenerife”.

The Canarian Coalition also requests that 1.6 million be allocated to increase the resources allocated to scholarships in order to increase their unit amount, in particular, in the general contest and aid for families with children with schooling difficulties. In addition, they also request to double the amount of the program to address the increase in unforeseen situations that require the intervention of the University of La Laguna (ULL) to maintain the enrollment of students with financial difficulties.

strategic sectors

Dávila assures that there are strategic sectors that have been particularly affected by inflation, “for which reason we are requesting 5 million euros for a shock plan for the primary sector and another for the industrial sector. They are essential for economic development.”

The nationalist spokesman, Carlos Alonso, points out that another measure is five million euros to the Insular Water Council “to partially offset the increase in the cost of producing reclaimed and desalinated water due to the increase in energy prices, so that the price increase is mitigated and does not affect farmers”. In addition, the nationalist group also intends to provide a bag of remuneration improvement to the lower wages of the Cabildo with 1.3 million euros “for the recovery of purchasing power” of the workers.

Other CC amendments insist on the recovery of the Ansina elderly program or on an increase of 10 million for the IASS. The nationalist group also requests five for the acquisition of homes and another to promote the job of people with disabilities. In addition to contributing 500,000 euros for improvements in the Heliodoro.

From the commission to tomorrow’s plenary session

The final path of the Cabildo budget began last Tuesday in plenary commission and concludes in tomorrow’s extraordinary plenary session. The 34 amendments of the Popular Party worth 17 million, negotiated with the insular government, are already part of the opinion of the Presidency and Social Action commission; that is, they have been incorporated into the budget project for 2023. The PP withdrew the rest of the proposals up to the total of 65 that it had initially presented. Those of PSOE and Ciudadanos that form the government were also approved. In all cases voted against Yes We Can Canary Islands and the Canarian Coalition abstained. The two amendments to all the purples and CC were not accepted. The partials of the nationalists and the left-wing coalition were not approved either. They all go to tomorrow’s plenary session (9:00 a.m., Plenary Hall) to be debated and then voted on. In this order: to all, those of Sí Podemos, 63 for 38.6 million euros, and the 30 of CC for a global amount of 102 million euros. Subsequently, the general budget will be voted on again for final approval. | JDM
