The Santa Cruz public lighting maintenance contract has been undertaking actions since 2015 to replace luminaires with more efficient LED technology, which reduces energy consumption. Within the framework of this contract, a total of 2,619 light points have been replaced until 2022, which represents only 7% of all the luminaires that are in charge of the maintenance contract and that are 35,770.

These data were provided by the Public Services area to the PSOE, which was interested in finding out the number of existing LED points in the municipality. A response in which it is qualified that not included in the list of replaced light points are all those new luminaires put to public use derived from works, both public, carried out by other areas of the town hall u other Public Administrations, such as private promotion.

This year, 291 light points in the municipality have been changed. Specifically, in the Plaza de España, in the García Sanabria park, at the Mayorazgo junction (the second part was executed), the Las Delicias park and the Las Mimosas neighborhood, in the Ifara area.

Since 2015, almost all the streets in the center have been switched to LED technology, including Plaza del Príncipe, Avenida Francisco La Roche, Rambla de Santa Cruz, the area around Fuente Morales, or Plaza de la Candelaria.

Also the Duggi and Pedro Schwartz squares, the Ballester neighborhood, in the Vuelta Los Pájaros area, the Manuel Castañeda square or several streets in the Santa Clara and Luisa Machado neighborhoods.

For years, 2020 was the one in which the most substitutions were made, with just over 1.30% of the total. In that year, lights were changed in the García Sanabria park, in multiple streets of the El Toscal neighborhood, in the surroundings of the Nuestra Señora de África Market or on various roads in the Anaga District.

The list does not include Christmas and Carnival lights, which are LED, but are not permanent.
