For the third consecutive year, the La Victoria de Acentejo City Council has launched the solidarity initiative ‘Giving Illusion’ so that no child is left without a gift on the magical night of the Three Kings, regardless of the family’s financial situation.
The mayor, Juan Antonio García Abreu, and the councilor for Social Welfare, Estefanía Fernández, have presented this campaign, for which the children of the most disadvantaged families from Victoria were previously asked to write a letter to the Three Wise Men in which they will capture those toys that they would like to receive. In this way, anyone who wishes can collaborate with Their Majesties of the East by becoming a godmother or godfather to make the wishes that these little ones have expressed in the letters come true.
The victoriero mayor calls for solidarity “to get godfathers and godmothers to join this toy campaign.” “We know that these years are being difficult for many families -says the local councilor-, all the more reason for all of us to collaborate to ensure that those who are having the worst time, and especially the little ones, enjoy this magical night . We will make them a little happier and we will bring a little more hope and joy to those homes”.
People interested in helping by sponsoring a letter should go to the Social Welfare area of the La Victoria de Acentejo City Council, either in person or by calling 922 582 002, where they will be provided with all the necessary information. The deadline to participate will be December 23.
The toys that are collected through this campaign will make it possible, in collaboration with this City Council and the Three Wise Men, to distribute them among minors from families in need. The delivery will be made in line with the social reports, assessing profiles, ages, tastes and preferences of the little ones, etc., and trying to make their wishes possible.
