Puerta held a meeting with the area counselor in the regional Executive, Julio Perez; as well as with the Deputy Minister of Justice, Carla Vallejo, and with the general director of Relations with the Administration of Justice, Mónica Ceballos. The former Güímarero mayor explains that he expressed his commitment to creating the fourth Court of First Instance and Instruction, which would come to add to the three of a mixed nature already existing in the Judicial District of Güímar.

With a sphere of influence that covers the municipalities of Candelaria, Arafo, Güímar and Fasniawhich record a population estimated at around 60,000 inhabitantsthe councilor recalls that this judicial area is home to “tourist centers such as Candelaria or the largest business park on the island of Tenerife, such as the Valle de Güímar Industrial Estate”, in which they are registered around to 300 companies with a labor movement estimated at 3,000 workers.

The proposal to create the fourth Court of First Instance and Instruction of Güímar «would come to alleviate the administrative burden of the three already existing. Each one of them pays attention to almost 20,000 inhabitants”. Airam Puerta reminded the regional authorities that the necessary facilities exist for its creation, “given that the building that currently houses the Güímar Courts was initially designed to house four judicial bodies.”

The building of the Courts of Güímar dates from the first years of the century. The property has three floors and two basements. On the lower level (basement -2) are the documentation archives and evidence repositories; In the basement -1 are the cells, the examination room, police custody units, documentation files and more evidence deposits. The ground floor houses the information and security area, Civil Registry, wedding room, coroner’s offices, hearing room, lawyers and solicitors, notification collection service, deanery, the Prosecutor’s Office and the library. On the 1st floor are the Courts of First Instance and Instruction numbers 1 and 2 and their courtroom, and on the 2nd floor the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 3, with the courtroom.
