SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The judicial bodies of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands registered in the third quarter of 2022 the highest rate in the country of marital dissolution claims per 100,000 inhabitants, as has been the case since December 2019.

According to data collected by the statistics service of the General Council of the Judiciary, between July and September the civil courts of the Archipelago computed a total of 1,157 demands for separations, divorces or marriage annulments, 12.2% more than in the same period of 2021.

This represents a rate of 53.2 marriage breakdowns per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest in Spain in the reference period.

The second was that of La Rioja (47.9), and the third, that of the Valencian community (46.6). The national average was 41.1 marriage breakdowns per 100,000 inhabitants, that is, 12.1 points below the Canarian average.

The territories with the least instability in marital unions in the reference period were the Basque Country (30 cases per 1,000 inhabitants), Castilla-León (33.7) and Navarra (34.2).

By province, the number of marital breakdowns prosecuted was greater in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (605) than in Las Palmas (552).

However, the judicial district that registered the highest number of cases in the Canary Islands was Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (175 between last July and September), compared to 129 for the second, the judicial district of the capital of Santa Cruz.

NATIONAL DATA

With regard to the entire Spanish territory, in the analysis period the set of marital dissolution claims registered in the judicial bodies (annulments, separations and divorces) amounted to 19,501, a figure that represents a decrease of 3.1 percent compared to the same quarter of 2021.

According to the report prepared by the Statistics Service of the General Council of the Judiciary, the rate of decrease this quarter has been lower than that observed in the previous quarter, which was 8.8 percent.

All forms of marital dissolution decreased in the analyzed quarter. For divorces by mutual agreement, of which 11,321 lawsuits were filed, the year-on-year reduction was 3.8 percent.

In the case of contentious divorces, which totaled 7,413 lawsuits, the decrease stood at 1.4 percent. For its part, there were 511 consensual separations, which meant 8.1 percent less, and 239 contentious separations, a figure that is 9.1 percent lower than that registered a year ago.

The number of nullity claims, 17, fell by 19 percent compared to the same quarter of 2021.

The demands for modification of agreed measures, of which 2,512 were filed, decreased by 4.3 percent and the demands for modification of non-consensual measures (6,384), did so by 0.5 percent compared to the same quarter of 2021. .
