SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, stated this Friday that the drop in unemployment by 1,620 people in November consolidates the “strength” of the economic recovery in the Canary Islands.

In statements to journalists, he has based his speech on the data on overnight stays of foreign tourists in October, which were higher than those of the same year in 2019, with the archipelago being the only community that improves compared to the time before the pandemic.

It has had an impact that there are also 46,000 more affiliates than a year ago, a “record figure”, and that it is not only reflected in tourism since other labor niches are beginning to consolidate on the islands such as audiovisuals, the circular economy, the technological field, care or employment in public services.

“Some, instead of being happy, try to doubt these numbers, but they are official,” he pointed out, while indicating that the Government will continue “working” for any unemployed without forgetting that “whenever unemployment goes down it is news which is to be congratulated”.
