The Canarian apartments, with 22.6% more overnight stays in October

The Canarian tourist apartments registered more than 2 million overnight stays in October, 22.6% more, although the Community of Madrid led occupancy in this non-hotel segment, with 79.2% of the offer, an indicator that in the Islands was 50, 52%, according to data published this Thursday by the INE.

By tourist areas, the island of Tenerife it was the preferred destination, with 699,898 overnight stays.

Lanzarotefor its part, presented the highest degree of occupancy, with 80% of the apartments offered.

The tourist spots with the highest number of overnight stays in October were San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Arona and Tías.

In the country setovernight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation exceeded 9.3 million in October, 13.2% more than a year earlier, and in the case of campsites, rural tourism establishments and hostels, the data accumulated in what so far this year they exceeded pre-pandemic levels.

During the first 10 months of the year, non-hotel overnight stays, which also include apartments, grew by 56.1% compared to the same period in 2021, according to data published this Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

In October, more than 2.3 million travelers stayed in one of these establishments, with an average stay of 4 overnight stays.

By origin of the travelers, there was only an increase in the case of non-residents, of 31%, since the lodgings of residents in Spain decreased by 8.7%.

Specifically, more than 1.2 Spanish travelers stayed in October in non-hotel accommodation, bringing the number of overnight stays to 3.4 million. For their part, 1.1 million travelers were foreigners, mainly Europeans, and totaled almost 6 million lodgings.

INCREASE OF CLOSE TO 20% IN TOURIST APARTMENTS

Overnight stays in tourist apartments increased by 19.8% supported by foreign travelers, who grew by 34.7% as residents registered a drop of 11%.

In fact, non-resident accommodations represented 75.8% of the total, with the United Kingdom being the main issuing market, with more than 1.4 million, followed by Germany, with 514,870.

In October, 34.9% of the places offered were occupied, 14.9% more, and the average stay rose to 5.2 overnight stays per traveller.

The Canary Islands was the preferred destination with more than 2 million overnight stays, 22.6% more, but the Community of Madrid led occupancy with 79.2% of the offer.

LOS CAMPINES INCREASE OVERNIGHT STAYS BY ALMOST 7%

Overnight stays in campsites registered an increase of 6.8% in October. Again thanks to non-residents, which rose 16.8% as those of residents fell 2.7%.

During October, 39.6% of the plots offered were occupied, 1.2% more, Germany was the main issuing market, with 29.3% of the total of non-residents and Catalonia was the preferred destination.

RURAL ACCOMMODATION DROP BY 13%

In rural tourism accommodation, overnight stays fell by 13.2%, the biggest drop since February 2021. Those of residents fell by 19.7%, while those of non-residents rose by 9.8%. Occupancy reached 18.6% of the beds, 14.6% less, and Castilla y León was the preferred destination.

In the case of hostels, overnight stays increased by 48.4% with a rise of 88.6% in the case of non-residents and Galicia was the most demanded.
