SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Cáritas Diocesana de Tenerife has closed this midday its project ‘Semillas de Algazara’, an occupational and therapeutic space launched at the initiative of the Arciprestazgo de La Laguna, aimed at homeless people with some type of functional diversity or mental disorder that hinder their labor incorporation, as well as people derived from the Parish Caritas.
It is an ecological garden whose function is to provide a space for work, learning and use of time in a positive way, providing elements of enrichment and personal development through contact with nature, as well as mental and physical activities that add to the improvement of the psychosocial well-being of the participants.
There are currently 35 people in it, and more than 350 kilos of fruits and vegetables are distributed weekly, from which, in addition to participants in our housing resources, some 85 people from the family units of the project participants benefit.
The ‘Semillas de Algazara’ project benefits, in addition to participants from the housing resources of the diocesan entity, some 85 people from the family units of the project participants themselves.
Before the closing ceremony of the project, the last session of the Technical Conferences on Organic Agriculture was also held, which have been held throughout this month of November, in which they have collaborated, in addition to the La Laguna City Council, Agrarian Extension of the Cabildo of Tenerife and the University of La Laguna.
In them, technicians and experts have participated in aspects such as the cultivation of pitaya, asparagus, vermicomposting or the identification of natural predators, among other issues. This last day has dealt with the preparation and cooking of vegetables.
