SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The exhibition ‘Three looks. A photographic tour of 40 years of the Parliament of the Canary Islands’ was inaugurated this Tuesday afternoon at the headquarters of the Canary Islands Government Delegation in Madrid in an act that was attended by the president of the Chamber, Gustavo Matos, the delegate of the Government of the Canary Islands in Madrid, María Dolores Padrón, the Canarian senator Manuel Fajardo, and the authors of the exhibition, Carlos González, María Pisaca and Trino Garriga -the latter by video from the headquarters of the Parliament of the Canary Islands–.

“Today is a very special day because we have brought a little piece of the history of our Canarian Parliament to Madrid through a unique photographic tour,” said the president of the Chamber, Gustavo Matos, during the inauguration.

Matos added that it is “a luxury” that Garriga, González and Pisaca “have collaborated with the Parliament of the Canary Islands in an exhibition that is part of the acts of the 40th anniversary of the Chamber, and that it is also a tribute to the photojournalists who have portrayed the history of the islands”.

In his opinion, “these photographs are time capsules that reflect the soul and the most human part of these 40 years of Parliament, and that no book written so far can capture”.

For their part, the delegate of the Government of the Canary Islands in Madrid, María Dolores Padrón, and Senator Manuel Fajardo, pointed out that the evolution of the presence of women in the Chamber is evidenced in the sample.

“I entered the Parliament of the Canary Islands in 1999, and we went from one deputy to seven in that year alone. It was very hard work that is being consolidated today. In this exhibition we see that evolution and the fruit of that work,” he said. .

Garriga, for his part, confessed that he was “excited” to be able to see the photographs of these 40 years of parliament in Madrid.

“Seeing the deputies in different facets is very emotional. A collection that, I think, is incomparable and unrepeatable,” he said in a video call from the Chamber’s headquarters in Tenerife.

The exhibition is made up of 108 photographs taken by Trino Garriga, Carlos González and María Pisaca, Canarian photojournalists whose professional career has always been linked to the activity of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, according to a note from the Chamber.

‘Three looks. A photographic journey through 40 years of the Parliament of the Canary Islands’ will be exhibited at the Canary Islands Government Delegation in Madrid from November 29 to December 9 and on Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
