Affected by a wave of robberies in The slaughterspecifically in the area known as El Puntillo del Sol, they have formalized their request to the authorities for the adoption of security measures to put an end to these attacks against their properties, and of which they have already reported NOTICE DIARY.

Specifically, the residents who have organized themselves for this purpose have collected the signature of nearly 150 citizens to endorse said petition in a letter that a few days ago was delivered both to the Town Hall of said town and to the Sub-delegation of the Government of Spain itself. in the province of Tenerife. As the reader will remember, these friends of foreign property show a special interest in the theft of gasoline from vehicles parked overnight, but they also tend to cause other damage to cars and, in some cases, there have even been assaults on homes.

The aforementioned letter details that they are “alarmed at the repeated incidents that have been taking place continuously in recent years, with assaults on homes, robberies and damage to property, as well as the damage that has been occurring to vehicles parked in the area, with broken glass, theft of batteries, gasoline/diesel, destruction of fuel tanks, among other damages to vehicles and homes.

The truth is that such thefts have intensified in the last two months, to such an extent that, as a spokesperson for these neighbors recalls, who understandably prefers to remain anonymous given the nature of the issue at hand, “we know through unofficial channels that only in In the last two months, some 50 complaints have been filed by residents of the entire Acentejo region, and even more, from Tacoronte to Santa Úrsula, on account of all kinds of crimes.”

“We only ask for more protection because taking into account the isolation characteristics of the area – details the spokesman for those affected in El Puntillo del Sol – events and incidents are taking place continuously (…) and many residents reside here who, in many cases, they are vulnerable people, many of them live alone as well as being many women and of all ages. We feel unprotected in the face of these acts of vandalism, ”he added.

Regarding the measures they request, this neighborhood spokesperson acknowledged that, although “we consider the location of surveillance cameras or a greater police presence opportune, in reality we are only looking for more security, and for the authorities to take action on the matter. That is why we have asked the mayor of La Matanza, Ignacio Rodríguez, for protection, in whom we fully trust to find a solution to this problem”.
