SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS) and Sinpromi, has organized on December 1 and 2 the first Island Meeting to experience Visible disabilities, with which it is intended to gather around this group to the population of Tenerife through the organization of a wide program of activities.

The event, with free admission, will take place at the Tenerife Fairgrounds and in it the associations of people with disabilities will have a leading role. In addition, you can enjoy various musical and sports proposals, as well as informative workshops and talks, aimed at the whole society.

The third vice-president and councilor for Social Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Marián Franquet, explained that this initiative continues the integrating line that the Island Corporation has followed in the care of the disabled. “We hope it will be an opportunity for Tenerife men and women to approach disability, learn about it and become its ambassadors, as agents that enhance the visibility of this group”, she assured.

Likewise, the counselor pointed out that this meeting, in addition to being an opportunity to learn about disability issues, is above all a space for fun and festivity, since it is the perfect moment to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is commemorates December 3. “We hope that everyone who attends can share a common and enriching experience,” she added.

During the two days of the meeting, some 60 entities from the Island related to disability will be present at the venue. Many of them will have a stand where they will inform attendees about their work and others will develop activities for those who want to participate.

In addition, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day, there will be various performances and workshops throughout the morning and afternoon. These range from a performance by singer, producer and composer Moise González, to a batucada and a sample of traditional dances. Likewise, you can enjoy a Zumba activity in a wheelchair, storytelling for girls and boys and a route of the senses, in which the people who participate can put themselves in the shoes of people with sensory disabilities.
