SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved this Friday an institutional motion on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated every November 25, to ratify its commitment against gender violence and the rejection of any political position that denies it

During the act, all the political groups represented in the Island Corporation (PSOE, Ciudadanos, Sí Podemos Canarias, PP and CC-PNC) observed a minute of silence for the two women murdered in Tenerife so far this year, Abigail and Clotilde .

In addition, the workers and workers of the Insular Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS) gathered outside its headquarters to read the content of the motion.

Specifically, the approved text includes twelve agreements, among which the defense of women’s rights and the eradication of any type of sexist violence stand out. For this, the Island Institution undertakes to organize conferences and forums in which the different types of violence that are exerted on women (emotional, sexual, economic, physical, psychological) are addressed.

It has also been agreed to urge all competent public administrations to comply with the measures of the State Pact against Gender Violence, and to demand the implementation and compliance of protocols for sexual and gender-based harassment.

In the same way, the Government of Spain is asked to develop studies to conceptualize and delimit digital gender violence (which is what is exercised through new technologies) so that it is included in the legal framework of the Measures Comprehensive Protection against Gender Violence

The Cabildo de Tenerife also undertakes to continue evaluating the situation of women and minors in contexts of gender violence on the island, reinforcing actions against vicarious violence and launching training and awareness plans against sexist violence of obligatory compliance for health and legal personnel and for the State security forces and bodies.

The Cabildo, through the delegated area of Equality, will put into operation immediately and urgently the Insular Council for Women in order to update and audit the policies that are being carried out within the framework of the prevention and treatment of gender violence. .

Finally, the motion includes the commitment of the insular Institution to collaborate with the associations that fight against sexist violence, support for the process of renewal and updating of the State Pact that is beginning in the Congress of Deputies, and the defense of all those laws or norms that help to put an end to any type of violence against women.
