The Plenary Session of the Santa Cruz City Council has approved a motion presented by the PSOE to establish, in coordination with the Cabildo and the Government of the Canary Islands, a system of compensation both for users of the taxi service and for the professionals themselves in view of the free buses that will be launched next year.

Precisely, next Monday, the sector is called to a consultation in which it will be decided whether to reduce the provision of the current service, which is 80% of the licences, to 60%, which would again be 80% on the days of cruise, with the objective, it is argued, that everyone can have a decent income. A consultation proposed by the majority association, Elite Taxi, and that a part of the sector rejects. Precisely this last part denounces the situation in the city today, with queues at taxi ranks due to the lack of vehicles to meet the high demand.

In this way, they denounce that, to the traffic collapse that Santa Cruz is experiencing due to the celebration of Black Friday, the lack of taxis in the capital is added, and they remember that being at 80% means that more than 200 licenses are not working today .
