Luxury under the stars – El Día

If camping seems like an interesting way to get closer to nature, but you don’t like the inconveniences associated with it, try visiting Finca Esferas and staying in one of its bubble suites. It is about enjoying the freedom that camping provides with the attractions of the most sophisticated accommodation.

In this busy world, we rarely have enough time to dedicate to ourselves. At Finca Esferas you will find an original and exclusive way of experiencing disconnection from urban life in an environment that will make you reconnect with your more rural side, without missing any of the comforts of the city and in such an original way that you It will become your most unforgettable getaway.

Located in the municipality of Los Realejos, Finca Esferas offers rooms that are bubble-shaped suites, closed rooms in the shape of a transparent sphere that allow you to contemplate the stars at night and the landscape that goes from Punta de Teno to Punta del Hidalgo with the sea on the horizon. Behind us, Teide. In this idyllic environment and these very particular rooms, the visitor will have the sensation of being covered by the immensity of the sky, while resting on a comfortable bed surrounded by the greatest comforts and a complementary leisure offer at the level of the most demanding client. This new accommodation offer is called glamping, a contraction of the Anglo-Saxon words glamorous Y campinga growing global phenomenon that combines the experience of camping in the open air with the luxury and conditions of the best hotels.

We spoke with the owners of the Finca, Ana and Carlos

What prompted you to set up an accommodation offer like this?

What prompted us first was our love of nature and unconventional destinations. We found out about these types of offers and we acquired this farm in Las Cuchillas that basically allows us to develop our agricultural activity and offer that accommodation alternative with which, more than a stay, we want clients to have an experience of disconnection and reconnection with the environment. Fortunately, we have a lot of support from the Los Realejos City Council and we are very grateful for the support they have given us from the very beginning.

They have been open for less than a year and have already hosted more than 450 couples, some repeaters. What is the secret of the success of Finca Esferas?

I suppose it is treating our guests as if they were at home and as we would like to be treated, with love, hospitality, respect… And believing a lot in what we do and why we do it. We are an environmentally respectful company and the client feels that with his getaway he is contributing to a different and sustainable tourism.

They look at sustainability from many angles…

Our main activity is agriculture, we cultivate on the terraces and the farm is a demonstrative element of the cultivation techniques of the area. In this way, we also carry out an informative activity, we show visitors what we grow, and why… Like, for example, the cultivation of chocho, which on many occasions they do not even know what it is. They help us to collect and take home products that they have seen on the ground and have collected. But, in addition, we use a biological filter treatment plant, this allows us to reuse the gray water that is generated in the bubbles and we reuse it for irrigation. The philosophy is to never waste resources.

In addition to the wonderful experience of the sphere, the complementary offer that they offer, what is it?

In the bubble itself you can have a continental breakfast, with a view of the sea and the mountains that surround the mountain from the terrace of the plot. You can also enjoy a massage or the spa. As complementary activities we offer horseback riding, paragliding, stargazing with a telescope, experiences adapted to the type of visitor such as romantic packs for couples… we try to make the visitor as comfortable as possible and we are open to requests for special occasions.

Finca Esferas offers rooms that are bubble-shaped suites

So they also help boost the economy of the area, right?

We could not have chosen a better place, or a better neighborhood to establish ourselves, that of Icod el Alto, and one way of thanking them for the welcome they have given us is that we ensure that all the activities we offer are produced or developed by companies or self-employed people in the area. , Yes. The person who gives the massages, the stables that offer horseback riding, paragliding… All with the same philosophy as ours, treating the client with respect and in a sustainable way.

How many bubbles do they have?

Two. The My Moon Bubble and the My Sun Bubble. Both are a heated sphere with views of the sky, it is located on a private plot of 100 square meters, the king size bed of 1.80 with a canopy, the shower with views of the sky, a outdoor jacuzzi, the lunar telescope and, of course, equipped with a bathrobe, slippers and different amenities as well as a minibar like any hotel.

With two bubbles, it is understood that the attention is highly personalized. How is this level of attention reflected in the prices?

We try to make it a sustainable activity, with all the comforts but still affordable, which is why right now our prices are below the average for establishments of a similar category.

What type of clients have you had so far and what is the average stay?

We have had some French and German clients and they usually stay two nights… But 95% of our clientele is local, from the South of the Island or Santa Cruz and we are delighted because they enjoy, feel and experience that special disconnection that Finca gives you Spheres and they leave wanting to repeat, which many do.
