Coromoto Yanes will be a candidate of the Popular Party (PP) for mayor of the municipality of Icod de Los Vinos, as announced today at a press conference, which was attended by the insular president, Emilio Navarro, and the deputy secretary, Lope Afonso, and by the hand of the president of the local committee of the PP of Icod, Isabel García.
Isabel García explained that the candidacy of Cory Yanes, who presents himself as independent, is “the proposal made by the local committee of the PP in Icod de Los Vinos to the Electoral Committee of the PP of Tenerife for the May 2023 elections, from the conviction which is the best option to defend the general interest of all the residents of our municipality”, to which García added that “today, more than ever, we need an inclusive policy that responds to the true needs of Icod and the people of Icod” .
García stressed that “the PP is a center party, reformist, that defends the freedom and dignity of people, and Cory represents those values.”
Yanes resigned at the end of October from the act of counselor to the Cabildo de Tenerife by the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) for personal reasons, a party in which he had been a member since 1999. In the 2015-2019 term, he was the island counselor for Open Government, Social Action and Citizen Attention.
During his speech, Cory Yanes assured that he “assumes this challenge from the
responsibility, contributing all my years of experience in public management from an island institution”, and thanked the PP “for the trust they have placed in me to lead this project in Icod”.
Yanes emphasized that “my objective is to propose a change in the politics that is currently being developed in my municipality, and this project allows me to face it in order to put people at the center of policies.” Yanes stressed that “I will contribute all my experience to this project, with great enthusiasm, to build a strong local government and consensus: this is an exciting project that I will lead with conviction, commitment and a lot of heart.”
The president of the PP of Tenerife, Emilio Navarro, closed the turn of interventions, vindicating a premise of his political formation: “We surround ourselves with the best to consolidate the best possible governments.”
Navarro recognized the career of Cory Yanes, who has been characterized “by carrying out honest and committed work”, thanking “the courage he has had in taking this step, which is not easy, putting the acronyms ahead of the residents of Icod”
