SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The state trading company Aguas de las Cuencas de España (ACUAES), of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, has announced in a statement made to the Santiago del Teide City Council that it will begin work on the pumping station next Monday the 28th wastewater from Puerto de Santiago.
The project is part of the action that ACUAES is developing in the West System of Tenerife, with a planned investment of 32 million euros for three projects: the Guía de Isora treatment plant, the Wastewater Treatment and Pumping Station ( ETBAR) of Playa de San Juan and the pumping and drives of the Coast, which includes the construction of the EBAR of Puerto de Santiago whose works begin imminently, and all this within the framework of the agreement signed in July 2020 with the Cabildo from Tenerife.
The works will begin despite the lack of collaboration shown so far by the Santiago del Teide City Council in regard to the necessary steps (notification of the prohibition of parking in the area, advertisements or posters) that allow the beginning of the stakeout, fencing, excavation and execution of the micropiles screen, as well as the rest of the work.
ACUAES, complying with a request from the City Council, undertook to make certain adjustments to the project that would improve the final aesthetics of the building and allow for better environmental integration, while requesting the City Council to take the necessary steps to allow the start of the works in the aforementioned EBAR.
After several attempts without obtaining a response, the state mercantile company has decided to start the works, which are declared to be of general interest to the State and are aimed at solving the serious problem of purification and sanitation that exists in the area, with two disciplinary procedures underway. by the European Commission for non-compliance with Directive 91/271, among which are the files of the Acantilado de los Gigantes and Puerto de Santiago-Playa.
The delay in the work, due to the lack of collaboration from the City Council, as they should have started this past spring, is jeopardizing the timeframe for the execution of the action within the legibility period, with the consequent loss of the FEDER funds initially allocated to the project.
The equipment necessary to carry out the excavations and support using micropiling had to be demobilized last July, causing serious economic damage.
In the absence of this project, ACUAES advances in action, having already executed the civil works of the EBAR of Alcalá Comarcal, Punta Blanca Municipal and Punta Blanca Comarcal. The stretch of land outfall and impulsion in San Juan is also being finalized and details are being finalized for the start of work at the EBAR Alcalá Municipal and EBAR Puerto de Los Gigantes.
The objective is to adapt the entire coastal pumping system to convey the water to the new ETBAR in San Juan, from where it will be sent to the new WWTP in the West for treatment. These two works are also in an advanced state of execution of the civil works, anticipating the start of assembly of the electromechanical equipment in the first months of 2023.
