SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Education and Youth area, has opened a second period to apply for language immersion scholarships (BIL) for the 2023-2024 academic year after modifying the modalities offered.

In this case, applicants who are in the third year of ESO may apply for language immersion scholarships for one year or one trimester. In the case of the Cambridge and Impulsa scholarships, aimed at ESO fourth-year students, new applications will not be accepted

The Minister of Education and Youth, Concepción Rivero, explained that this new application period opens due to the changes that have taken place in the scholarships and recalls that they have recently incorporated “the long-stay scholarship with which 35 students will have the opportunity to spend a full course abroad, which includes a return ticket to come to Tenerife for Christmas”.

Rivero pointed out that in this new format the modality of the online course and a month’s stay abroad disappears, so that applicants for the 3rd year of ESO will be able to choose between linguistic immersion for a quarter or a full year, and he points out that this way “will increase the quality of the experience and improve the learning of the participants.”

The insular director of Education and Youth, Isabel Bello, assured that “people who have already requested the language immersion scholarship do not have to do anything, they do not have to request this new modality, since it is understood that they have also requested it. form, those who have already sent their applications opt for both modalities jointly”.

The island director wanted to remind that “the order of choice of modality will depend on the best academic record and, in the event of a tie, the lowest family income per person will be valued, in this way, the brightest third-year ESO students will be able to choose between the annual or quarterly BIL scholarships”.

With these changes, the modalities that are offered and which can be chosen in this second application period are the quarterly language immersion scholarships and the annual language immersion scholarships.

In the case of the former, they may be held in Ireland, Canada or France for 105 days, which will coincide with the first quarter of the school year. During this time, the students will stay with a family and attend an educational center in the country of destination. For this modality, there are a total of 200 places for those who are currently studying the third year of ESO.

As for the annual scholarship, it will be held in Ireland, it will have 35 places for students who are in the third year of ESO and it will have the same characteristics as the quarterly one, only changing the duration of the stay, which will be for a full academic year.

It is recalled that those who have already submitted their application in the open period between September 22 and October 14, 2022 will not have to submit it again. In addition, the submission period for the Cambridge and Impulsa scholarships, to which ESO fourth-year students can apply, will not be reopened since these modalities have not undergone changes.
